The Sport and Recreation Alliance is seeking a new Policy Adviser to help take forward its policy work in a range of key areas including children and young people, outdoor recreation and physical and mental health.

The Alliance is the independent voice of the sport and recreation sector and provides advice, support and guidance to its members which include national governing bodies and other national and regional sport and recreation organisations. The Alliance works closely with Government, policy makers and the media to help grassroots sport and recreation grow and thrive.

“We are seeking someone with policy expertise to help take forward our work in line with our new strategy, The Heart of an Active Nation,” said James Allen, Director of Policy, Governance and External Affairs.

“Our new strategy makes clear that we will work with the sector and wider stakeholders to improve the availability, accessibility and quality of sport and recreation for children and young people. We also want to demonstrate the positive social and economic impact of sport – including its impact on the nation’s physical and mental health.

“We are looking for someone with a policy background who is passionate about using the power of sport and recreation to improve the lives of children and young people and to address the wider public health challenges our society faces.

James added: “This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to take the next step in their policy career and who is keen to work in a dynamic member organisation.”
