SCVAC won both pole vault competitions, M35 Chris Mills                  Sharon Greenwood and Katy Williams in
with 4.40 and Allan Williams (M60) taking the M50 with 3.30.             the 60 metres
EVAC’s Gavin Fordham won his second event, long jump
with 5.86, as did MMAC’s Greg Dunson, M50 with 5.47. Ian            European Record holder Sue Yeomans(W60) won the W50
Reeve added the M60 long jump for EVAC, 4.67, and Roger             pole vault for SCVAC, 2.70, with Gemma Eastwood winning
Bruck the M70 for SCVAC. Gavin and Greg made it three               the W35 competition with 3.20 for EVAC. The long jump
victories in the high jump, 1.80 and 1.70 and Ian and Roger         provided a third win for Helen Channon, W35, 5.07, and a
won again with 1.39 and 1.24. Keith Newton easily won the           second for SCVAC’s Moira West, W60, 3.45, while EVAC’s
M35 triple jump for SCVAC, 12.69, and NVAC’s Julien                 Carole Filer won the W50, 4.42. All three high jump winners
Gittings took the M50 Competition, also easily, with 11.40.         gained their second victories, W35 Julia Machin, SCVAC,
EVAC scored a clean sweep of all four age groups in the
shot, M35 Steve Whyte 14.35, M50 Rob Earle 13.36, M60          28
Geoff Tyler 12.06 and M70 Ian Miller, 9.37.

In the women’s match, W50 Euphemia Scott, SCVAC ran a
fine double in the sprints to win the 60m, 8.75 and the 200m,
29.37, and Moira West added the W60 60m.for SCVAC,
9.38. Helen Channon won the W35 for VAC in 8.09 and the
200m. in 26.67. NVAC were the most successful club in the
400m.races, Sharon Greenwood winning the W35 in 61.69
and Caroline Marler the W60 in 75.73, with EVAC’s Chris
Feely winning the W50 in 69.94.

The 800m. races saw world record holders Claire Elms,
VAC, and Angela Copson, MMAC, win the W50 and W60
races, Claire in 2:38.73 and Angela in 2:58.09, just keeping
out Ros Tabor, three hundredths of a second behind.
SCVAC’s Diana Norman won the W35 race in 2:24.53. Claire
ran her world record 1500m.and Denise Toner won the W35
for NIMAA in 4:42.58 and followed that with a win in the
3000m.in 10:22.48, while Angela Copson won her second
race to take the W60 3000m. in 12:14.85. EVAC’s Maureen
McCartney took the W50 event in 11:16.18.
Julia Machin won the W35 60m.Hurdles in 9.56 and EVAC’s
Gaye Clarke the W50 in 10.64. Helen Middleton won the
W35 2k.Walk for EVAC in 12:08.07 and Ann Wheeler the
W50 event in a rapid 11:19.23 for MMAC. WMAA won the
W35 4x200m.Relay, 1:56.29, EVAC the W50, 2:05.32 and
VAC the W60, 2:18.60.
