Hurricane Bertha did little to dampen the spirits of Michael
entrants in their annual T&F championships, as the Gardiner
Saturday was fine and there were just a few
showers on the Sunday but some events did seem
to migrate needlessly indoors.

This is the outdoor championships, so there should never,
really, be any suggestion of holding any events indoors. The
indoor champs were at Lee Valley in March.

Three titles for W60 Caroline Powell took four titles and said: “I had six
Steve Peters months with just gym work.” She had a narrow victory over
Helen Godsell in the 100m, in 14.09 and a more comfortable
Steve Peters, returned to competition with three over-60
sprint titles 12.38, 24.64 and 57.03 and were pretty good on 65.10 400m on Saturday before returning for the 200m and,
just four weeks training as he goes off to Izmir for the a rare, 800m on Sunday. Her 28.82 EUROPEAN RECORD
European Vets. 200m win was followed by 2:43.68 to round off a successful
weekend.
M45 400m winner Michael Gardiner with 51.01, showed up
the runners in the M35 and M40 groups as they were all
slower.
