Race 2 8K M 50 – 60+                                                 overall in the race only 19 seconds behind the winner.

group were a strong contingent of England runners
including Guy Bracken, Phillip Parry, Bob Atkinson and
Christopher Harry as well as Gary Keenan (NI), Stan

McKenzie (SCOT) and Martin Rees (WAL). At the
finishing line it was Harry from Parry by the narrowest of
margins with Keenan in third place.

M50: As already stated this was an enthralling encounter
between Harry, Keenan, Parry and Bracken. The group                  Martin Rees
swopped positions each lap until the final lap when Harry
and Parry edged out a lead over the other two and all that
was left was the sprint for the line.

M55: This race was a race between two previous winners
in the M50 age group who had moved up into the M55’s.
Tommy Payne (ROI) 2009 and Robert Atkinson (ENG)
2011. As the race developed Atkinson was running fast
enough to be able to build up a lead that also allowed him
to get amongst the runners at the front of the race. Further
down the field Martin McDonald (ROI) and Paul
Thompson (SCOT) were fighting out for the bronze medal.
