OPEN RACE

The 10 Mile BMAF Road Race Championships were
held on the 23rd February and were incorporated into
the Netherhall 10 promoted by Cumberland AC.
Cumberland AC provided an outstanding promotion and
met all the needs of the BMAF entrants. These included
easy parking and an excellent race HQ which was adjacent
to the start and finish. A challenging scenic one lap course,
on quiet roads with first class marshalling guaranteeing the
safety of the runners. The Marshalls must be thanked as
they too had to tolerate the very windy weather conditions
which battered the runners in the final miles.
My personal highlight of the day was when I witnessed Ron
Stewart the Chairman of NEMAA presenting the medals to
all our members after they had accessed a huge post-race
buffet provided by Cumberland AC.
The open results attached highlight the strength of the
BMAF participation. They also highlight the strength of the
M70 contingent who were led in by Martin Ford’s
outstanding performance.
On behalf of the BMAF can I thank Cumberland AC with a
special thanks to Sheila and Craig and North East Masters
with a special thanks to Arthur and Ron.
It is always my aim to distribute Championship Races
across the UK and the North West of England provided a
perfect setting and a perfect race.
