European Best Female Masters Athlete of the Year, Irie Hill, broke her own World W45 pole vault record clearing 3.70m in Switzerland last week.
Lyon-bound M40 Tony Whiteman ran a brilliant 1.49.42sec 800m Heat at the Sainsbury’s British Championships in the Alexander Stadium on Saturday taking him into another British Senior final where he finished 6th in 1.51.67sec. Evergreen Walker, Francisco Reis, also took on the younger guys in the 5km Walk, he finished 11th in 23.55.53sec.
World and European 400m/hurdler, Virginia Mitchell, was originally selected as a Reserve for the history-making W50 400m at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing in August. She is now confirmed as a definite starter alongside Sally Read-Cayton and David Heath runs in the M50 800m.
Following the attack near Lyon on 26 June, the Organising Committee in Lyon has issued a statement reassuring all athletes and their families that they are taking all measures in terms of security.
