The Communities & Local Government Committee Select, Chaired by Clive Betts (Labour) MP Sheffield, is asking all users of their local park for their comments/views on the future of, to us the physically active this precious asset. Local Authorities have no Statutory Duty to fund or maintain public parks.
The Committee’s remit (that you should read before completing the Survey) appear to be to find alternative methods of funding the upkeep of the parks i.e. by charging the users. Should such a scheme be implemented, it would have serious implications. The Closing date for comments is 30 September.
Please draw this Survey to all your members/athletes/clubs/training companions etc. and give serious constructive thought to what you might add in the Comments Box. We will certainly be commenting and we are circulating all our Clubs.
