First 45 year old to run sub 1.50sec for 800m
He is unstoppable! Since turning 45 last November, the SCVAC member set about breaking records and now holds both M45 World Indoor 800/1500m marks.
Running in the BMC Grand Prix at Trafford on Saturday he became the first man over 45 to smash the 1.50sec barrier for 800m when he clocked 1.49.86sec breaking the previous mark set in 2005 by American Saladin Allah by over four seconds. On the WMA Age Graded Tables his time equates to 1.39.76sec!
In July running at Loughborough he lowered the World 1500 to 3.48.72sec, to break the 2016 mark set by the Russian, Vyacheslav Shabunin in 3.50.55.
Tony knocked a full six seconds off the World best for the one mile at an Open Meeting in Cardiff on 12 August, finishing in 4.10.00.
