It has been a busy weekend for you all, Indoor and over the country and we are grateful to our IT guru, Peter Kennedy, and Des White for keeping those who had entered the BMAF 10 Miles, being promoted by Lytchett Manor Striders and the SWVAC in Poole on Sunday, updated on social media as the weathermen warned of the approaching storm. The race unfortunately had to be cancelled.
Indoors, after clearing 4.31m in Sportscity, Manchester, on 1 February Mark Johnson, NMAC, returned to Carshalton, Surrey, on Sunday to break his own short lived M55 pole vault record of 4.33m set at this venue last September, he soared over 4.34m.
Louise Rudd’s now rarely run Indoor 1-mile time in Dublin last month sets a new British W45 mark of 5.13.36sec and Douglas Milsom claimed a new M80 7.44.98sec record at Lee Valley.
North of the Border Robert Stevenson, SVHC, dented the sand at 4.87m for a new M65 long jump mark. Kathleen Stewart, NEMAA, also likes the Glasgow Arena as she claimed two W80 British Indoor Records over the 200m in 40.90sec and amazingly ran the 400m in 1.32.56sec, on 2 February. Our Sweden-based M80 Anthony Treacher, SWVAC, has been warming up for the European Championships in Braga, he covered the two laps in 1.21.45sec in Stockholm.
Super performances, many congratulations!
