The ubiquitous NMAC’s Jeff has been a stalwart for his club, Altrincham & District AC Ltd, at our road relays, cross-country and even on the track, now turned 75 and with more mileage in those legs than many combined family cars would clock up in a lifetime, the 1976 Olympian is still running the hills and dales with distinction. After the European Masters Athletics Non Stadia Championships in Madeira , 29-31 October, where he scooped the M75 10km and half marathon titles, the latter in 1.52.12sec over the testing course, he stayed on to tackle the EMA Mountain Races, winning the even more testing 8.5km Mountain run on 6 November.
Scottish Veterans Harrier Sue Ridley is another who is undaunted by any conditions. She won the W55 8.5km run and was our only member, male or female, to toe the line at 07.30 for the daunting 31km Mountain Trail over a beautiful but tricky stony course made slippery by overnight rain. Only 18 men and 8 women finished. She won the W55 race. Well done to both.
