At the 2022 European Masters Athletics Championships Indoors, held in Braga, Portugal, Britain’s first medals have gone to Susan Ridley and Angela Copson in the cross country events.

Ridley completed the 8 kilometre course in 28:01, winning gold in the W55 category as the first athlete home, while Copson’s 34:24 placed her second W70 behind Ireland’s Eileen Kenny.

Also competing in the women’s over 55 race were Elke Hausler and Linda Farrow. Hausler’s 33:06 placed her 10th W55, whilst Farrow was sixth W65 home with a time of 40:40.

The M65+ race featured two Brits, with Alan Appleby an unfortunate DNF. Kevin Dillon completed the course, however, his 39:23 putting him 13th M65.

The final race of the day with British involvement was the M45-50 contest, with Paul Flynn racing to a 32:16 clocking as 19th-placed M50.
