Northern Masters would like to say how sad we are to hear the news that Tony Bowman has suffered a stroke and is currently severely disabled. A legend in Athletics and a nicer guy you couldn’t hope to meet. We sincerely hope you make a good and swift recovery.
Tony has requested we pass on this news.
It is always a joy to compete in the same events as Tony, who is invariably cheerful and almost certain to break a record. In a BBC article about him quoted on this site we read:
“The veteran sportsman’s ambition is to run the 100 metres aged 100 and to live to 120.“
We hope very much that the stroke is no more than a temporary setback.
