Sri Chinmoy Event in Perth Sees Records Broken
More reporting in Athletics Weekly of a significant Event for Masters.
Both Peter Kennedy (Chairman) and Walter Hill (Secretary Road Running) were present at this event representing BMAF. Peter writes
Walter and I were present to witness this great day of ultrarunning:
- both personally: Walter representing UKA in in his capacity as chair of UKA selectors for British ultramarathon teams and myself supporting my daughter Sarah Webster’s attempt on the European 100k record
- and for BMAF: we used the live tracking system provided by Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team to know who would top each masters age category and hand them their medals almost immediately they crossed the finishing line. This was an almost non-stop task for the two of us giving out 30 medals all afternoon. This is the service the BMAF aims to provide at all masters championships from 60m sprints to ultramarathons as well as the field events.
Peter Kennedy, Chair British Masters Athletics Federation
Walter Hill, Road Running secretary, BMAF
As the report by Adrian Stott makes clear Sarah Webster was successful in her attempt on the 100km European Record:
Sarah Webster broke the European women’s 100km record with 7hr 3min and 48sec, surpassing the previous time of 7:04:03, set by Florianne Hot of France in August 2022.
The event is organised by ACP – the Anglo Celtic Plate Ultra-Distance Association and Sri Chinmoy Races.
