Happy New Year

So many of you will be focusing on your winter training and competitions – so now is the time to think about those competitions (if you haven’t already). BMAF will be putting on three winter championships for you in 2026.

Indoor Pentathlon, 3000m Championships with Open Events, indoor championships and winter throws.

  1. Indoor Pentathlon, 3000m Championships with Open Events 24th January in Cardiff. This event has become a championship event also for athletes who are members of Welsh Masters and Midland Masters – so potentially two medals for the price of one entry for some of you! With the competition being held on the Saturday – this makes a great opportunity to make a weekend of this competition and do one of two things on Sunday! Could be a lovely day exploring Cardiff and all that it offers or even another competition at the same venue – Non Thomas Grand Prix. So don’t leave it too late before entering this competition. https://data.opentrack.run/en-gb/x/2026/GBR/bmaf-ipen

  2. Indoor Championships 21st and 22nd February at Lee Valley. A great weekend for lots of fun, renewing friendships, many pb’s and for those heading to Torun – a chance to see what tweaks need to be made before the Euros. It will also be an opportunity for getting new officials trained. We will be offering level 1 officiating courses on Saturday and Sunday between 10 and 12.30 pm with an opportunity to put into practice in the afternoon what was learnt in the morning. Saturday will be track judging and Sunday we will be offering a timekeepers course. Please pass this information to your supporters or family members who may be interested in supporting our sport in this way. If we don’t find and train more officials – then the number of competitions could be reduced. Course information will be listed on the EA website in the New Year. https://data.opentrack.run/en-gb/x/2026/GBR/bmaf-itfc
  3. Winter Throws 7th and 8th March at Horspath, Oxford. Saturday is open to athletes in the age groups V35 to V55 inclusive. Sunday is for those in the V60+ age groups. This competition is another great chance to get some competition practice in before Torun. You may even experience warmer weather in Oxford as opposed to Torun!!! However, if you are not travelling to Torun – it is still a great competition to be involved with. https://data.opentrack.run/en-gb/x/2026/GBR/bmaf-wt

Book your places before it’s too late.

BMAF look forward to welcoming you to these Championships. Please book your places before it is too late and we look forward to seeing you at these events!

Also a reminder that if you are intending on competing at the European Indoor Champs in Poland and want BMAF medical services – please get that booked soon. It helps with ensuring that there are sufficient therapists and they have managed to get flights and accommodation booked at reasonable rates. https://bmaf.org.uk/library/fixtures/2026/Torun%202026%20Althete%20Letter.pdf
