Dear Athlete This is a plea for more officials in order to sustain our existing competitions. You are the best source for new officials: we recognise the help already provided by many masters athletes but we still need many more to replace those now retiring. Family members young (over 16) or old are equally welcome. If you are willing to do this, then it is possible just to turn up and lend a hand for the field events without any training. Please think about this as a way to start, if something is stopping you competing temporarily. You would however get a better start as a track or field official by attending a training course. The traditional way of doing this was a combination of theory and practice led by a senior official and this is still the best way of learning. However this method is expensive and so England Athletics only organises these training courses if there is sufficient demand. Unfortunately they are rarely local to you, but nevertheless there is an excellent opportunity now scheduled which still has a few places available. See the poster below: |
