The Golden Stag Mile proudly promoted by Barnet & District A.C in Finsbury Park.

Talking with Clare after the event, naturally as many runners do played down her ” record” and achievement. Although she had run faster than the World Outdoor record Indoors and much quicker on the road this year at the Vitality Mile track conditions pose different challenges.  Her account, “the conditions were very good but the race did not go to my plan, sadly I was boxed on the first lap and didn’t react quickly enough so this meant the big group got away. I then had to run the second half solo which left me exposed without a group to work with. Truth be told I was a bit disappointed with my time mainly as my training dictated in reality a faster time. This has left me feeling hungry for more and also something to work on. I still feel both very lucky and delighted to have achieved the record, watch this space as I may have to give another a go! A big thank you to Barnet and District AC for putting on an amazing, well -organised evening of Mile races. The atmosphere was great and fabulous to see a total of 15 Mile all run in good spirit!
