Never far from the news whatever the weather musician Peter Giles, VAC, batted off his season with a 12.01.82sec British M75 record at the Wimbledon track meeting on 26 June, knocking 16sec off Victor Shirley’s 12.17.90sec set in Sheffield in June last year.
We featured last week at the same Meeting, Clare Elms continued to re-write the W55 record book by adding the 3000m to her amazing tally when she clocked 10.11.24sec to erase the 10.13.9 that has stood since 2009 to Scottish international marathon runner Sandra Branney.
Sweden-based Anthony Treacher points out that his 81.86sec 400m on 18 May is a new M80 mark improving on Rodney Mills’ 82.59sec set in Perth at the World Masters Athletics Championships in 2016.
The 2002 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and multi World and European age group champion, Irie Hill, competing in the Nationales Waiblingen Leichtathletik Meet in Germany on 15 June set a new W50 World pole vault record of 3.41m. All EMA and WMA records are subject to ratification.
