Paul Forbes was unable to run as he pulled up injured in the warm up, however, Kevin Pye took his place. The running order and splits were: Colin Bates (2.29); Kevin Pye (2.36); Chris Ireland (2.24); Jed Turner (2.21).
Previously reported – On 9th June there was an attempt at a new world record for the 4×800 M60, as part of the Run Jump Throw open meeting at Woodbourne Road, Sheffield. The current world record was 9.30.92 held by the USA.
Jed Turner, Paul Forbes, Chris Ireland and Colin Bates ran 2.29, 2.36, 2.24, 2.21 splits to beat the British record, narrowly missing the world best.
