Event overview

The championships will take place at the Sporting Edge stadium, Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, postcode L39 4QP. The meeting forms part of the established North West Combined Events Championships, an open festival of combined events which attracts athletes from across the UK. In 2026 it will once again incorporate the British Masters National Combined Events Championships for athletes from age 35 upwards.

Who it’s for

The weekend brings together a full programme of combined events for U16, U18, U20, senior and masters men and women, all competing side‑by‑side. For masters, this is the official British Masters Combined Events Championships, catering for all veterans’ age groups from V35 upwards and described as the largest combined events competition of its kind in the country. County teams from across the North and wider North West will also use the meeting to stage their county combined events championships, adding an extra layer of competitive interest.

Venue and atmosphere

Competition takes place at the Sporting Edge track within Edge Hill University, a modern facility in West Lancashire with good road access and extensive university amenities on site. The organisers are keen to showcase the stadium and create a festival feel, with age‑group and masters athletes sharing the same timetable, arena and support. Previous editions of the NWCE meeting have been praised for their friendly but highly competitive atmosphere, drawing combined eventers from a wide geographic area.

Entries, timetable and logistics

Entries are managed online via OpenTrack under “NWCE26 – North West Combined Events Championships”, with separate start lists and combined events information pages available. To protect a busy two‑day schedule, each age‑group field has a capped number of places, and the first ten days after entries open are reserved for county championship and BMAF entrants before the open waiting list is cleared on a first‑come‑first‑served basis. Entries close five days before the event, and while withdrawals and refunds are possible up to that point (minus platform fees), athletes who can no longer compete after the deadline are strongly encouraged to inform the organisers so waiting‑list athletes can be brought in.

Full details of event schedule, accommodation options, costs and local travel are being rolled out via NWCE and BMAF social media and websites in the run‑up to June.
