Another outstanding performance to Celebrate this week on social. The master of Ultra running “Sandra Brown” continues to break records at the age of 70…

Recently I made contact with Sandra to ask on her experience at the Energia Belfast 24hr event over the weekend. She really enjoyed the event and thought that Victoria Park was an excellent venue to host the annual event. Also pointing out that the interest in ultra-distances amongst the Irish clubs was quite impressive.

In March this year Sandra passed the milestone of completing 200 events of 100 miles or more, and the first person to do so. She achieved this in the Dublin to Belfast 107 miles run at the end of March. Davvy Crockett ( Ultra Runner in Utah) produced a fascinating blog about ultra-running history and a written an article on Sandra: http://ultrarunninghistory.com/15-sandra-brown/

Having turned 70 in early April she has managed to challenge some W70 age group records, setting new W70 world best performances for running 100 miles and 24h (this last weekend in Belfast, with 21.15.33 for 100 miles and 182.62 kms for 24h) and race-walking 100 miles in the Dutch Centurion race-walking event. Belfast was her 7th event of 100 miles or more this year, and the third in 4 weeks. Sandra quoted to me “I like to keep busy and do all types of event, running, walking, off-road”.

What an incredible lady !
