Geoff was involved in sports from an early age, at 19 he was called for National service in the RAF and ended up in Grangemouth Scotland where he spent a lot of time involved in athletics, ice skating and watching ice hockey. He was a great all round sportsman. His sports included Athletics, particularly running and long jump, table tennis, golf, swimming, badminton and tennis.
Geoff was an athletics coach and provided inspiration and support for many young athletes through his club Wycombe Phoenix Harriers. In recent years he won an award for this.
He also officiated at many race meetings, including on the TV show Superstars where he remembered meeting Ian Botham and giving him a number of false starts in the athletics.
Geoff represented Great Britain in many international Veteran championships including USA, Japan, Australia, Norway, Finland and many other countries. he won many medals particularly for sprinting and long jump.Somebody once said that he must spend hours training but in truth he did so much sport that he remained naturally very fit for most of his life.
He passed away in September after a short illness. He will be very much missed by his wife Joy, his children and 5 granddaughters.
