On 18 July at an Open Meeting in Livingston, W50 Julie Wilson ran 2:37.45 on the first leg of the 4 x 800m relay handing over to the very much in top form W55 Fiona Matheson who torn round in 2:34.79 sending Clare Barr off for a 2:36.35 leg and Yvonne Crilly on the glory lap recorded 2:31.09 for a new World record time of 10.19.68sec slicing almost 5sec off the 2014 marks set by a USA quartette.
New British 800 relay marks were also set at the same Meet by a W35 team from Giffnock North AC – Mary McCutcheon, Allie Chong, Sheila Lewis and Jill Smylie in 11:18.50sec, and Motherwell AC’s M35 team of Kevin Durnian, Stephen Allen, Jim White and Allan Cameron in 9:24.12sec.
An athlete may compete for a team in only one age group in each relay, which may be a lower age group than that of the athlete. The age group of the team is the age group of the youngest athlete on the entry form.
Our committed Records team have been working hard to keep up with our for-ever-young members as MMAC member Jo Willoughby’s 10.25m W50 Triple Jump at the Inter-Area in Solihull has now been ratified.
M70 Neil Griffin SCVAC sent the discus out to 40.55m at Woodford Green on 10 July.
