text for three missing positions after 2023 AGMtext for three missing positions after 2023 AGM

Following this year’s Annual General Meeting and the resignations of Kay Reynolds, Ian Richards and Michael Hausler vacancies now exist for the roles of Track and Field Secretary, Race Walking Secretary and Head of Marketing & Communication.

All three vacancies are significant for BMAF in the immediate future.

Track and Field

Most urgent, and arguably most important, is the Track and Field Secretary without whom there will be no track and field championships. If you could take on this role please do let Peter Kennedy (pkennedy@bmaf.org.uk , Tel: 01273 477062       Mob: 07808 033532) . If you feel you could contribute to the duties, in conjunction with someone else, then agian let Peter know and a jobshare will be set up.

Dates for the indoor season have been set, but without an organiser the championships will not take place.

Race Walking

Without a Race Walking Secretary the burden will once again fall on Ian Richards who has agreed to step in with the aid of other senior race walkers. Without an appointed secretary there is no voice for race walking on the BMAF executive and no say in establishing the vision for masters athletics in the UK and consequent decision making. Please volunteer your help to Peter, as above, or offer to contribute to a jobshare.

Marketing and Communications

The Marketing and Communication Manager is crucial to the future well being of BMAF, to ensure the message gets across that Masters Athletics is well and well served, and to ensure that the events which take place are well supported. Again please get in touch with Peter to take on this job or a share of it.

Do you have the skills and the energy?

Most of you should have received Peter’s recent circular in which he wrote

Please can anyone with the skills to fulfil these roles who is concerned at the position this puts us in if we have no-one to fulfil them, reconsider if they can step into role or help in some way with the role. Even if you feel you cannot do this in the same way as the predecessors in the role, we would like to hear what you could offer

Please contact Kay ReynoldsIan Richards or Michael Hausler respectively to discuss the roles further or come back to me if prefer. The deadline for progressing all these positions is 1st December.
