Indoor Track and Field Championships

These take place this year on 17th and 18th February at Lee Valley. The closing date for entries is 7th February and spaces remain in all events.

Entries are via OpenTrack.

The Championships take place just a few days after the closing date for the European Master Athletics Championships Indoors in Torun, so provide a good test of how your preparations are going for the International event.

The philosophy of the Championships is fully in line with the BMAF brand which sets out that our aim is to inspire everyone over the age of 35 to take part in athletics. There are no qualifying standards. You don’t even have to be a member of one of our constituent clubs, though discounts are available if you are. Why not give our National Championships a go.

GB’s M70 4 x 200 relay team is the EMA Men’s relay team of the year.

In an end of year posting splurge I wrote of the very high quality of M70 sprinting in the BMAF. By way of validating my assertions the EMA has anointed the 4 x 200 M70 GB relay team to be its men’s team of the year.

And to add yet more strength to this cohort John Browne has just turned 70 and has put his name down for the 60m and 200m at Lee Valley on 17th and 18th February. The first 170 age graded entries in John’s Power of 10 record are at 90% or better, a level often considered to be “world class”.

World Relay Championships

Whilst there were early intimations that Masters Athletes might take part in the World Relay Championships in the Bahamas in May this year the BMAF secretary, Rob Lands has

been informed by WMA that there will not be any Masters involvement in the World Relays Bahamas 2024 and that  WMA is continuing discussions with WA about opportunities for master athletes in future global collaborations.
